Now that James is back in school our Friday movie nights have been replaced with high school football games. Our mom dropped James off at my house after the game. He was excited to tell me about the game, his friends, and the girls. For the millionth time, we discussed the importance of "personal space" as James refuses to give anyone any. The next morning I got James his favorite breakfast from Burger King, the ultimate breakfast platter. He only actually eats the pancakes, eggs, and hash browns, not the english muffin or sausage. After breakfast we settled in to watch the first Iowa Hawkeye game of the season. During the pregame show James said, "He must be the stupidest son of a bitch alive, but he sure is fast." Then James looked at me and said, "I'm sorry Val." He knows he is not supposed to swear. James was quoting the scene from "Forrest Gump" where Forrest is playing football for the University of Alabama. In that moment I was just amazed. I can't even think of when James would have seen that movie, yet he pulls out the line in an appropriate context. Although he does this sort of thing all the time, it always dumbfounds me. After the game James insisted on lifting all my furniture to show me his massive strength.
